Vegas is one of the most water efficient cities, has 10 years of water "banked" in Lake Mead because it uses less than its allocation every year, and if Lake Mead does drop to dead pool (in other words, California can't physically get water from it anymore), Vegas still has a deep enough straw.

Do you worry about the long-term viability of living in the Southwest when it is facing so many water shortage issues? For example, Arizona recently limited residential construction in parts of Phoenix due to a lack of available water.

Re: ultrasonic sensor. Yes, I think the reflected sound waves have to bounce back so you need to be perpendicular to the surface or the relected waves won’t return to the sensor.

I would love to hear about how you treat and maintain chemical/chlorine levels in your pool and if you have it automated.

I’ve been noodling on it with my pool for awhile but have never come up with a consistent solution.

Great article. It got me thinking about the little businesses I want to start, but I’ve not been persistent enough to follow up with.
